Ein Buch geht um die Welt ist ein bisschen geschummelt. Aber immerhin nach Afrika hat es mein “Nennen wir sie Eugenie” geschafft. Das freut mich natürlich sehr. Nachdem mich schon vor einiger Zeit zwei Studenten, einer aus Togo und einer aus dem Senegal, zum Buch interviewt haben, weil sie dazu eine Bachelorarbeit schreiben wollten, ist nun im April 2022 im Transkriptverlag eine Textsammlung erschienen. “Afrika im deutschsprachigen Kommunikationsraum - Neue Perspektiven interkultureller Sprach- und Literaturforschung”, herausgegeben von Friederike Heinz / Simplice Agossavi / Akila Ahouli / Ursula Logossou / Gesine Lenore Schiewer.
Ein Kapitel darin befasst sich mit meinem ersten Roman.

Aliou Pouye widmet sich in diesem Beitrag der Problematik der Flüchtlings-und Asylpolitik in Deutschland anhand des Romans »Nennen wir sie Eugenie« von Maria Braig. Unter anderem stehen folgende Fragen im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags: wie drückt sich im Allgemeinen das Thema Asyl im Bewusstsein der deutschen Bevölkerung im Allgemeinen aus? Wie gestalten sich die Verhältnisse der Deutschen zu Asylsuchenden? Welchen Stellenwert nimmt diese Problematik in der politischen Debatte in Deutschland ein? Wie wirkt sich dieses Thema auf die Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und den afrikanischen Ländern aus?”
Ich bin sehr erfreut und fühle mich geehrt. Es spricht aber auch alles dafür, dass das Thema bisher kaum beachtet und bearbeitet wurde, wenn seit 2014 kein weiteres Buch zu diesem Thema auf den Markt gekommen ist. Vielleicht ein Grund, mich noch einmal mit der Thematik zu befassen? Aus einem anderen Blickwinkel und an die aktuelle Wirklichkeit angepasst?
Leider scheint die Thematik die deutschen Lesenden nicht allzu sehr zu interessieren, betrachte ich die Verkaufszahlen meiner Bücher, die sich mit den Themen Asyl und Flucht befassen. Auch das sagt etwas aus, nur beantwortet es mir nicht die Frage danach, wie das zu ändern wäre. Denn alles Schreiben macht nur Sinn, wenn es auch gelesen wird, am besten von denen, die daraus dann auch etwas mitnehmen.
